Low Temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscope(LT-STM,ISUPAM)

  Based on the quantum tunneling effect, the tunneling current and the tip-sample distance are exponentially related, and the resolution is up to the atomic scale, that is, an atomic-level image is observed. Scanning tunneling microscopes can observe and locate individual atoms with higher resolution than comparable atomic force microscopes. In addition, the scanning tunneling microscope can accurately manipulate atoms at the low temperature (4K) using the probe tip, so it is both an important measurement tool and a processing tool in nanotechnology.
