近日,课题组成员李少菲同学在刘老师的指导下,以第一作者在中科院1区TOP期刊Small上发表题为 “Layer- and Charge-State Dependent Magnetic Proximity Modulation of Valley Excitons in MoS2/CrBr3 Heterostructures”(MoS2/CrBr3异质结构中谷激子的层态和电荷态磁邻近调制特性)的实验论文。

This manuscript provides a thorough and insightful investigation into the magnetic proximity effect (MPE) in MoS₂/CrBr₃ heterostructures, with a focus on how MPE is influenced by both the layer configuration of MoS₂ (monolayer vs. bilayer) and the charge state of excitons. The authors present a systematic study employing photoluminescence spectroscopy, which reveals a charge-state dependent MPE, supporting a spin-aligned interfacial charge transfer mechanism. The observed Zeeman splitting of 1.49 meV at zero magnetic field in monolayer MoS₂, in agreement with the theoretical calculation of 1.8 meV, provides solid experimental evidence of the strong MPE present in these heterostructures.
The results highlighting the enhancement of the g-factors of neutral excitons and trions under high magnetic fields (~2.3 and ~1.8, respectively) in monolayer MoS₂ are particularly interesting and contribute valuable insights into the role of MPE in modifying excitonic properties. The contrasting response observed in bilayer MoS₂, where the interfacial exchange coupling is weaker, underscores the significance of the layer-dependent proximity effect in these systems. This layer dependence is a critical aspect, as it indicates the potential for tuning valleytronic functionalities based on the material's structure and the charge state of excitons.
The authors effectively demonstrate the potential for utilizing CrBr₃-based heterostructures in valleytronic applications, which could be crucial for developing future quantum and optoelectronic devices. This work represents an important step in advancing our understanding of MPE in 2D materials and opens up possibilities for engineering tailored valleytronic devices by leveraging the unique properties of layer-dependent proximity effects.
